How to End Gerrymandering in Every State

A fair, redrawn map for all 50 states, plus DC and Puerto Rico.

Gerrymandering is the manipulation of voting district boundaries to give one political party an unfair advantage. The way to end it for good is to change the system itself, moving from single-member districts to multiwinner districts with proportional representation. In a proportional system, it does not matter how you draw the lines, because every voter wins fair representation.

For my book Polemic for Democracy, I redrew the congressional map of every single state to show what an ungerrymandered America could look like. Pick your state below to see its new, fair map and read how proportional representation would work there.
